Boone was this human's first cat. She was adopted in 1979 from a farm that had a litter of kittens,
needing permanent homes of their own. On the right is a picture of Boone when she was in her first
year. Boone's first home (after the farm) was a one room apartment in Central Illinois. She was
queen cat of the household until Taffy was adopted a year later. Boone felt it was most appropriate
to induct Taffy into the household by sitting in the doorway to whatever room Taffy was in and
hissing at her. Fortunately, after a 60-day initiation period they became good friends - playing,
napping and enjoying fine dining together.
One of Boone's favorite spots in our house was the screen porch. With that black coat of hers, the
sun and fresh air sure felt good. Boone refused all offers to do commercials endorsing any
beverages, but human is sure she wouldn't mind our sharing this picture with you. This was Boone's
favorite lookout spot where she could keep an eye on those birds and squirrels visiting the backyard.
Boone made her transition when she was 17 years old. All through her last year she continued to
play chase with her friend Taffy. And she liked to play catch with humans, too. When tossed a
crumpled piece of aluminum foil, Boone would always jump up in the air to catch it between
her paws. Snoozing comfortably on a pillow is how human pictures Boone in Heaven before God sends
her on to a new life.
